State License Application Process
Create an account on FoSCoS (foscos.fssai.gov.in) and file Form B — the State License application. Select appropriate food category codes, business type and premises details.
Upload all required documents — identity proof, address proof, premises documents and food product list. Manufacturers must upload layout plan and equipment list.
Government fee for Pondicherry state license: Rs. 2,000 per year (manufacturers) to Rs. 5,000 per year depending on category. License can be obtained for 1 to 5 years.
The Designated Officer of Pondicherry Food Safety Department reviews the application. For manufacturers and processors, a physical inspection of premises may be scheduled within 30 days.
State License issued within 30–60 days (post-inspection for manufacturers; faster for restaurants/retailers). 14-digit FSSAI license number issued. Must be displayed at premises.
