How AI-Assisted Drafting Works
Drafting a legal document from scratch is time-consuming — not because the words are difficult, but because getting the structure right, including the right clauses, and avoiding legally problematic language requires careful work. AI drafting tools do the structural and templating work quickly. The advocate then steps in to apply judgment.
Here is how it works in practice:
You tell us what you need — a rental agreement, a vendor contract, an employment offer letter, an NDA. You provide the key facts: the names and details of the parties, the main terms, amounts, dates, and any specific requirements or unusual provisions you want included.
Our system generates a first draft using AI templates aligned with Indian law — the Indian Contract Act, 1872, applicable stamp duty rules, and any sector-specific requirements. The draft includes standard protections, correct boilerplate clauses, and is structured in the way Indian courts and practitioners expect to see it.
Our advocate then reviews the draft. Where the AI has produced a generic clause that needs to be more specific to your situation, the advocate rewrites it. Where you have asked for something unusual, the advocate ensures it is legally sound. Any stamp duty or registration requirements are flagged at this stage.
You receive a final document that is advocate-reviewed — not a raw AI output — ready to be printed, signed, and used.

Why AI-Assisted Drafting Costs Less
Traditional document drafting involves an advocate sitting with a blank page (or an old precedent) and drafting a document from scratch or adapting an older template. For a routine 3-5 page rental agreement or vendor contract, this typically takes 2-4 hours of the advocate's time — which is reflected in the fee.
With AI-assisted drafting, the first draft of a standard document is generated in 15-30 minutes. The advocate then spends 30-45 minutes reviewing, revising context-specific provisions, and finalising. The total time for a routine document is reduced from 2-4 hours to under an hour.
We pass that time saving directly to you as lower fees. You pay for an advocate-reviewed, legally sound document — just at a price that reflects the actual work involved rather than the traditional model.
For genuinely complex, bespoke documents — a detailed shareholders agreement, a high-value commercial contract with unusual provisions, a multi-party arrangement — the AI provides research and structural support, but the advocate drives the drafting. These are priced accordingly.
What the Advocate Still Does for You
Even in an AI-assisted process, our advocate's involvement is substantive — not a rubber stamp. Specifically:
- Review of all AI output — Every AI-generated clause is checked. Generic language that does not fit your situation is rewritten.
- Correction of context-specific terms — The AI does not know whether Pondicherry or Tamil Nadu law applies to a particular clause, or how a local court has interpreted a standard term. The advocate does.
- Stamp duty advice — Correct stamp duty denomination for your document type and transaction value under the Indian Stamp Act and Puducherry Stamp Rules.
- Notarisation — Where the document requires notarisation (e.g. affidavits, some PoAs), we handle this at our office.
- Registration assistance — Where registration is required or advisable (long-term leases, sale deeds, partnership deeds), we advise on the process and can assist with Sub-Registrar Office requirements in Pondicherry.
How to Get Started
Call, WhatsApp or email us. Tell us the type of document you need, the names of the parties, the main terms (amounts, dates, obligations), and any specific provisions you want included. A 5-minute conversation is usually enough for standard documents.
Once we have your requirements, our system generates a complete first draft, including all standard clauses and boilerplates appropriate for your document type under Indian law.
Our advocate reviews the draft, makes context-specific revisions, confirms the stamp duty requirement, and finalises the document. Any unclear terms are checked with you before finalisation.
You receive the final document — by email for digital use, or printed on correct stamp paper if you visit our office. Notarisation and registration support available as needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
For standard documents, we need the names and details of the parties, the main commercial terms (amount, dates, duration, key obligations), and any special provisions you want included. For a rental agreement, for example, this means: landlord and tenant names and addresses, property address, monthly rent and advance, lease period, notice period, and any specific conditions like restrictions on use or who pays maintenance. A 5-10 minute call or a clear WhatsApp message is usually sufficient.
Yes. If you review the draft and want changes — different wording for a clause, additional provisions, removal of something — send us your feedback and we will revise it. One round of revisions is included in the service. Additional revision rounds may be charged separately depending on the extent of changes. Once the document is finalised and printed on stamp paper, physical changes are not possible, so review the digital draft carefully before confirming.
Yes. If your document requires stamp paper — which most agreements and affidavits do — we procure the correct denomination E-Stamp paper and print the final document on it at our Nellithope office. We advise the correct stamp duty for your specific document and transaction value. The complete service includes drafting, stamp paper procurement, and printing. See our E-Stamp Paper and Print on E-Stamp pages for more details on these services.
We draft documents in English, which is the standard for legal documents before Indian courts and for most formal transactions. Where you need a Tamil version — for example, an affidavit for a Tamil Nadu government office — we can provide a Tamil draft as well. Please mention this requirement upfront as it affects the turnaround time.
For digital documents (not requiring stamp paper or notarisation), we send the final document by email in Word and PDF formats. For documents that need to be on stamp paper or notarised, you or your representative will need to collect from our Nellithope office, or we can discuss courier arrangements for outstation clients.
